Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi spoke by phone with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, on Monday, to congratulate him on winning the presidential election and being re-elected for a new term, said Presidential Spokesperson Ahmed Fahmy in a statement.
Erdoğan won another term of presidency after he garnered 52.16 percent of votes in the run-off election that held on Sunday, beating the opposition candidate Kılıçdaroğlu who obtained 47.84 percent of the votes.
Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi shook hands with Turkish counterpart Erdoğan in Doha, as both leaders emphasized the depth of historical ties that bind the two countries and agreed to develop bilateral relations, spokesperson Bassam Rady said, Monday.
