CAIRO – 26 June 2017: Nature reserver Albert Sobhey organized a walk from Wadi Degla in Maadi, Cairo, through ancient areas to the Wadi Hitan Valley (the Whale Valley Reserve), 230 kilometers away.

This is part of Egypt’s celebration of World Environment Day under the theme "I am with nature." Sobhey, athletic coach, organizer of the desert festivals and Nature Reserver, began the trip on Thursday and arrived at the Whale Valley Reserve Monday.

According to Masrawy, Minister of Environment, Kahled Fahmi stated that he in person and the Ministry will always support ambitious young people as Sobhey.

“The trip sends an important message promoting natural tourism and highlighting the importance of nature reserves,” Dr. Amr Heyba, Director of the Wadi El Rayyan Nature Reserve stated.

Heyba will attend a reception at the reserve to celebrate the event and hand Sobhey a certificate of appreciation from the Ministry of Environment in recognition of his efforts
Sobhey had earlier organized jogging races to promote and support nature reserve tourism in Wadi Degla and Wadi Al Rayyan, added Masrawy.

Sobhey aims to walk 80 kilometers in the Bahariya Oasis in preparation for a record 250 kilometer walk in 7 days, with the participation of a large number of international runners to raise global awarnes to natural reserves in Egypt.
