CAIRO -11 June 2017: Moroccan Airways will increase the number of flights between Casablanca and Cairo to seven per week instead of five, starting from June 18.

Director of the Royal Moroccan Airlines Office Montasser Ben Said said Morocco Airways flights are witnessing a decrease in bookings during Ramadan, the Islamic holy month during which Muslims fast from dawn to dusk. The five flights the airline currently operates between Cairo and Casablanca are averaging only 50 percent occupancy, he added.

Said said he also hopes to launch a direct flight from Casablanca to Sharm El Sheikh, which will be a part of the company’s new development plan.

He added that Moroccan Airlines now owns 55 aircraft, of which 70 percent are less than six years old, and that in the coming months the company is planning to increase its fleet.

Egypt Air, meanwhile, has announced two weekly flights to Morocco after Ramadan.
