CAIRO, June 16 (MENA) - Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli reiterated on Sunday the major importance the government attaches to the development of archaeological and historical sites with the aim of restoring their civilized and aesthetic status and promoting the tourism movement.

The premier made the remarks while taking a tour of the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization in Fustat district and Ayn as Sirah Lake to follow up the underway renovation activities there.

Flanked by a delegation of ministers concerned, Madbouli was briefed on the progress of restoration of the lake which is being carried out by the Egyptian Dredging Company that seeks expanding the waterway of the lake and establishing restaurants on its banks.

Mdbouli, meanwhile, ordered outlining an intensified plan of action meant to finalize the renovation activities within the coming few months.

According to Nader Saad, the spokesman for the cabinet, the plan of upgrading Fustat area involves the restoration of Fustat road before the civilization museum and making new extensions to it.
