CAIRO – 8 May 2017: Egypt and Burkina Faso are discussing the possibility of starting a direct flight between the two countries.

“Prime Minister Sherif Ismail met with Burkina Faso President Roch Marc Christian Kaboré to discuss a number of issues of mutual interest, including launching a direct flight between the two countries,” A Thursday Cabinet statement said.

Ismail and Kaboré also discussed establishing pharmaceutical factories in Burkina Faso for manufacturing Hepatitis C treatment products.

President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi met with President Kaboré as part of the latter’s three-day visit to Egypt. In an official statement Sisi said Kaboré's visit was an opportunity for consultations on means and ways to enhance relations between the two countries in various fields.

Kaboré highlighted the importance of boosting economic cooperation between Egypt and Burkina Faso and encouraging the private sector and investments, the Cabinet statement added.

Kaboré is expected to meet with officials and public figures while in Egypt, including Parliamentary Speaker Ali Abdel-Aal.

President Kaboré was accorded an official reception at the presidential palace at the beginning of his visit to Egypt.
