CAIRO – 25 September 2018: Member of the Chamber of Tourism Companies in Luxor Tharwat Agami said that the governorate will receive on Saturday a Belgian delegation that represents about 500 tourism companies.

The delegation will attend the annual conference of Belgian tourism companies in Luxor, in a step to restore and refresh tourism in Upper Egypt's Luxor and Aswan.

In an interview with Egypt Today, Agami said that the delegation will consist of 185 Belgians, adding that they will enjoy a river cruise.

Agami said that the meeting will expectedly have a positive influence on Belgian tourism to Egypt.

Earlier in September, Luxor received the first charter direct flight from the Heathrow Airport, carrying 120 Britons, according to Major-General Hesham Issa, the director of Luxor International Airport.

In August, Turkish airlines announced that it will start sending flights to Luxor directly. The first flights will start in October 2019, according to Agami.

Luxor and Aswan are probably the two most popular and important touristic destinations in Egypt. However, to arrive in Luxor, tourists first have to land in Cairo’s International Airport and then take another internal flight to Luxor. Egypt needed a faster, direct route to Luxor so that tourists are encouraged to come.

Agami stressed that these direct routes will solve the problems tourists face when planning their visits which will, in turn, improve tourism in Egypt. Not only because of this but also because Turkish Airlines is considered cheap compared to other airlines, this will be even more encouraging for tourists who are suffering financially but are still looking for a good holiday.
