Cairo - 20 January 2018: According to local news reports, Egyptian and Spanish companies held negotiations to organize weekly charter flights between Madrid, Luxor and Aswan starting from July 2018.

The negotiations took place on the sideline of the Vitor International Tourism Fair, which was held in Madrid and participated by Spanish speaking countries from all over the world, according to Ali Ghoneim, manager of an Egyptian travel agency that participated in the fair.

Spanish travel agencies are interested to organize tours to Egypt, in particular Luxor and Aswan. Also, an increasing number of Spanish tourists visited Egypt over the last few years which has positively affected the Egyptian tourism industry, according to Mohamed Hassanein, President of Glaxia.

He added that there around 23,400 tourists visiting Egypt in 2016 and 36,000 tourists in 2017 which highlights the rapid influx of Spanish visitors in Egypt.
