CAIRO - 29 August 2017: Photographers’ lenses today are displaying the beauty of man-made art and nature’s magnificence in two historical cities, Burullus and Desouk cities in Kafr El-Sheikh, in the western part of the Nile Delta.

In an attempt to reveal the beauty of every Egyptian city parallel to the mainstream images of the country, Alexandria-based Adasa Photography Club launched the “Egypt Again” project in 2016 to document landmarks and everyday life through the lenses of its talented photographers.

Burullus City is a historical city in Kafr El-Sheikh governorate, located between the Mediterranean Sea in the north and the lake of Burullus. The lake is one of Egypt’s most important fishing areas, where 80% of the inhabitants work in the fishing industry and the other 20% work in fishing-related professions, like building and fixing boats.

Burullus contains one of the original lighthouses built by Khedive Ismail in 1869, where he built others like it in Rosetta, Damietta and Al-Qabbari.
Al-Burullus is a natural protectorate and an attraction for migrating birds in the winter, where they migrate from the north to the south.

Desouk lies in the northern part of Egypt, located 80 km east of Alexandria. The city has a population of around 140,000.

The city is a historical one that dates back to the time of the ancient Egyptians and was known to be the ancient city of Buto, before the unification of the two Lands, Upper and Lower Egypt, in 3000 BC.

Desouk contains important Islamic shrines, such as the tomb of Sheikh Ibrahim El Desouki, who lived in the 13th century. The shrine is located in the city’s main mosque.
