A road trip to help assure the safety of Sinai

CAIRO –23 July 2017: ‘For Egypt’ two Egyptian men went on a bicycle trip through Sinai after passing by Suez governorate to promote tourism in Egypt. Sherif Mohamed al-Said al-Batal and Ahmed Mohamed Hamdi wanted to assure people through their trip that Egypt is safe and that terrorism will not hold us back. This was an invitation for bicycle lovers all over the world to come visit Sinai.

The two young men, Batal, 23 years old, one of Maadi’s residents in Cairo, and a student in the Faculty of Arts and his friend Hamdi 27 years old, a graduate from the faculty of Computer and Iinformation Sciences, also a Cairo resident, started their trip by travelling to Suez to the Martyr Ahmed Hamdi tunnel and from there into Sinai.

Batal said in an interview to Egypt Today, “We are bicycle riders and we went on this trip now not only for sport, but to invite the world to visit Egypt and especially Sinai and to promote tourism so that when everyone sees us riding our bicycles safely though Sinai, they would know how safe it is.”

He also pointed out "we communicate with youth from all over the world and actually some of the bicycle riders from Britain have decided to come in next November to do a trip through Egypt, to ensure the return of tourism."

Meanwhile, Hamdi stated "My friend and I are now walking safely through Sinai and it is our duty towards Egypt to do our best for its sake. He stressed that they are depending on themselves completely in this trip, without the financial help of any organization," their aim is to help revive tourism.
