Liverpool coach Juergen Klopp has praised his team's star Mohamed Salah, the team's top scorer this season, with 20 goals so far this season.

Klopp said in statements to his club: "I don't think Salah needed this goal to reach this position among the Liverpool fans, but this helps you to remember people for you."

"He was a very important goal, he decorated his wonderful performance in the meeting, it was a really good match from Salah," the German coach added.

"Salah is a great world-class striker. I am really happy that he has reached these numbers and I think Sadio Mane has a chance to do similar things. This would be really great."

Salah reached his 70th goal in the Liverpool jersey during his 100 games with the Reds.

"We need all the players because, with everything you can do on the field, you need someone to shake the net," Klopp said. "Often it's Salah."

Liverpool is preparing to face Atletico Madrid in the second leg of the Champions League round of 16 next Wednesday after losing the first goal.

Salah is spending his third season with the Reds since his arrival from Rome, Italy, and in the first season, he broke many records to take the top scorer in the league, two goals behind Harry Kane, his closest rival.

In his second season, he maintained the Golden Boot award, sharing it with his colleague Sadio Mane and Arsenal player Pierre Aubameyang.
