CAIRO – 16 June 2017: French national team captain Hugo Lloris believes teammate Paul Pogba defied critics and showcased his great abilities during the France-England match.

Following France’s 3-2 victory over England in Paris Wednesday night, the French goalkeeper praised Pogba. “Against England, he was fantastic and as a midfielder he helped the team a lot to manage the ball,” Sky Sports reported him as saying.

Since being transferred from Juventus to Manchester United in the summer of 2016 for a record-breaking €89.3 million, midfielder Pogba has had critics questioning his abilities for such a hefty price tag.

Despite the criticism, the 24-year-old international midfielder helped the Red Devils win two trophies in his first season. When asked about Pogba’s performance with Manchester United last season, Lloris said, “Maybe he had some things to prove, because he belongs to one of the best clubs in the world and he plays in the Premier League, and he has to show his level," the Daily Mail reported.

Lloris seemed optimistic about Pogba’s future, saying, “I have no doubt that he will get better and better,” according to football365.com.
