CAIRO – 2 July 2019: Senegal starting goalkeeper, Edouard Mendy, suffered a serious injury during the warm-up ahead of the game against Kenya on Monday night.

The player, who started the first two games for Senegal, was replaced by Alfred Gomis who finished the game with a clean sheet.

Mendy has been sensational for Senegal since he wore the national team jersey in 2017.

Senegal defeated Kenya 3-0 on Monday night to secure qualification to the second round as rummers-up.

Two goals from Sadio Mane and a goal from Ismaila Sarr was all what Senegal needed to defeat Kenya.

Senegal gained six points after defeating Tanzania and Kenya and their only loss came against the group leaders, Algeria.

Senegal team, led by Liverpool star, Mane, hopes to win their first ever title at the history of the competition.

The competition takes place with the participation of 24 teams in six groups for the first time in the history of the African competition.
