Cairo_26 June 2019: Egypt national team manager, Javier Aguirre, admitted that the team did not produce a great performance at the tournament's opening game against Zimbabwe despite achieving the victory.

Egypt won the game 1_0 thanks to a goal from Mahmoud Hassan known as Trezeguet.
“We are looking for correcting our mistakes against Zimbabwe. We had many chances but we only scored once.” Aguirre said on Tuesday.

Egypt will face a tough test against DR Congo who entered the competition as favourites to reach the second round but lost 2_0 to Uganda.

Aguirre added “ We are ready to face DR Congo. All the players are ready physically and technically. We respect DR Congo much and have done our homework studying them.”

Egyptian veteran defender, Ahmed Hegazi, is expected to start the game against Congo wearing a protective mask following the head injury he suffered during the opening game.

Egypt and Uganda share the top at Group A, 3 points each, while Zimbabwe and DR Congo stays at the bottom.

This year’s edition of Africa Cup of Nations is considered the biggest Africa Cup of Nations ever with 24 teams.
