CAIRO, 14 June 2019: Youth& Sports minister, Ashraf Sobhy, revealed the secret of his meeting with national team duo Mohamed Salah and Mohamed Elneny following Tanzania's match in the presence of Hani Abou Reida, president of the Egyptian Football association.

The Pharaohs beat Tanzania in a friendly game on Thursday night in their preparation for the 2019 AFCON.

Egypt's only goal came through Ahmed El Mohamady's header after he received Ahmed Ayman Mansour's cross well. The match took place at Borg El Arab stadium.

"I met only Salah & Elneny because I have already met all the players before," Sobhy started his talks to Filgoal website.

"I conveyed to them that they are important sources of the team; their presence is very important, and that there is support from the political leadership led by President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, and that everyone puts his hopes on them in achieving the title," Sobhy added.

"I thanked Salah as he spent his personal vacation in Egypt, El Gouna which was useful for the Egyptian tourism in a big way," Sobhy said.

The AFCON starts on June 21 and ends on July 19. The tournament takes place with the participation of 24 teams in six groups for the first time in the history of the African competition.

Egypt plays in Group A alongside the Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda and Zimbabwe.
