CAIRO, 14 June 2019: The Egyptian national team retreated one place in the FIFA rankings for the countries before the start of the African Cup of Nations.

Egypt ranked 58th in FIFA rankings and came eighth among the African countries.

Belgium maintained its position on top of the rankings while Senegal continued its domination on the African teams.

Senegal is in the 22nd place before Tunisia, Africa’s second, which occupies the 25th place.

Nigeria, Africa’s third, is in the 45th place, while Morocco comes in the 48th position.
The Pharaohs beat Tanzania in a friendly game on Thursday night in their preparation for the 2019 AFCON.

Egypt's only goal came through Ahmed El Mohamady's header after he received Ahmed Ayman Mansour's cross well. The match took place at Borg El Arab stadium.

The AFCON starts on June 21 and ends on July 19. The tournament takes place with the participation of 24 teams in six groups for the first time in the history of the African competition.

Egypt plays in Group A alongside the Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda and Zimbabwe.
