CAIRO – 11 June 2019: Liverpool Guinean midfielder, Naby Keita, is recovered from his injury and he will participate in the friendly game against Egypt ahead of their participation in 2019 African Cup of Nations held in Egypt between 21 June and 19 July.

“If Naby does not come now, it will be difficult for me to add him to the final list for AFCON, but he said he will play against Egypt,” Guinea national team manager, Paul Put, said on Monday.

Keita suffered an injury during Liverpool’s clash against Barcelona at the UEFA Champions League semi-finals and he was forced to miss the remaining games of the season including UEFA Champions League Final which ended with a 2-0 victory for Liverpool.

Put added “I put a lot of pressure on Liverpool to send him as soon as possible and he will join the team on Monday.”

Keita will face his teammate in Liverpool, Mohamed Salah, when Egypt hosts Guinea on 16 June in preparation for the competition.

Guinea plays in Group B alongside Nigeria, Burundi and Madagascar.
