CAIRO – 29 April 2019: Zamalek defeated Al-Ahly 21-18 at the last fixture of the league on Sunday at 6 October Halls to win the Egyptian Handball League.

Al-Ahly, the defending champions, entered the game hoping to achieve the victory to win the title while their arch rivals, Zamalek, needed a draw to secure the title.

Both teams had a great game at the first half and Al-Ahly winger, Eslam Hassan, led his team’s attempts to break Zamalek’s defense while Zamalek’s Ahmed El Ahmar stayed on the bench watching his teammates scoring goals.

The first half ended with a 11-10 lead for Al-Ahly.

At the second half, Al-Ahly were the better side at the first five minuted and they increased their lead to four goals but Zamalek team returned to the game at the next 10 minutes thanks to Yehia Khaled goals.

Eslam Hassan suffered an injury minutes before the final whistle which gave Zamalek players the chance to dominate the game which ended 21-18 for Zamalek.

Zamalek players celebrated the victory with their fans who cheered for them during the whole game.
