CAIRO - 15 April 2019: The result of the first leg ended it all. Al Ahly beat Sundowns 1-0 but got knocked out of the quarter-finals of the CAF Champions League.

South Africa's Mamelodi Sundowns thrashed Al Ahly last week 5-0. Al Ahly had to beat the South African club by a bigger score but they failed to score more than one goal.

Al Ahly's only goal came through Moroccan striker, Walid Azzaro, who headed the ball in the 68th minute in Sundowns goalkeeper, Denis Onyango's net.

Al Ahly got knocked out of the African Championship in the quarter-finals and for the first time since 2016 has failed to reach the semi-finals.

The South African team is now preparing to face Moroccan club, Wydad Casablanca, as they thrashed Guinea's Horreya.

The Reds' African journey ended and they are now preparing for their important Egyptian League clash against Pyramids FC on Thursday.
