CAF announced AFCON teams classification before draw

CAIRO - 8 April 2019: The African Football Confederation (CAF) revealed the final classification of the 2019 African Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The Egyptian team came in the first category of the classification, to be at the head of one of the groups, as Egypt is the host of the tournament. While the Algerian and Moroccan teams came in the second category.

The CAF officials settled on the removal of points for each team's performance in the World Cup and its qualifiers, and added the FIFA ranking in March as a way to rank the teams.

The classification came as follows:

1: Egypt - Ghana - Tunisia - Côte d'Ivoire - Cameroon - Senegal.

2: Morocco - Nigeria - Congo - Algeria - Mali - Guinea.

3: Uganda - South Africa - Guinea Bissau - Zimbabwe - Angola - Burundi.

4: Mauritania - Namibia - Benin - Kenya - Madagascar - Tanzania.

The draw for the African cup of Nations will take place in the Pyramids areas on April 12.
The CAF announced that the 2019 African Cup of Nations will start on June 21 and will end on July 13.
