CAIRO, 14 March 2019: Al Ahly’s Tunisian left-back, Ali Maaloul, was absent from Al Ahly’s training session on Thursday in preparation for their clash against JS Saoura.

Al Ahly hosts JS Saoura in the sixth round of CAF Champions League in a must-win game on Saturday at Borg el Arab stadium.

Martin Lasarte, Al Ahly’s coach, gave the players a pre-training lecture in order to stress on the important instructions before the important game.

Lasarte was keen to reassure on Ali Maaloul and the goalkeeper, Mohamed El Shenawy, who underwent medical checks.

Al Ahly enters a private camp tonight in Alexandria in order to concentrate on the important game on Saturday’s 06:00 p.m. clash.

Al-Ahly needs to achieve victory over the Algerian team on Saturday to secure qualification to the quarter finals.


Al-Ahly shares the second position at the group with Congo’s Vita Club with seven points each and they are one point behind the Algerian team who leads the group table while Tanzanian club, Simba, stays at the bottom of the group with six points.

Al-Ahly failed to achieve their ninth title at the competition as they lost the last two Champions League Finals to Wydad Casablanca and Esperence, respectively.
