Al-Ahly’s victory heats up Egyptian League title race

CAIRO – 6 March 2019: Al-Ahly defeated Petrojet 4-0 on Monday night at the 26th round of the Egyptian League at Petro Sport Stadium.

Al-Ahly kept their unbeaten run as the Reds achieved their 17th victory over Petrojet at the league from 22 games and the other five games ended with a draw.

Al-Ahly opened the score after 8 minutes by a header from Junior Ajayi who met a wonderful cross from Nasser Maher.

Marwan Mohsen doubled the score for his team after a fine play between Al-Ahly players who broke Petrojet defense.

Al-Ahly had many chances to add the third goal but the players failed to convert the chances and the first half ended 2-0.

At the second half, Geraldo added the third goal after a fantastic assist from Ali Maaloul and Geraldo put the ball in the empty net.

Karim Nedved added the fourth goal minutes before the final whistle to secure his team’s victory.



Al-Ahly closed the gap at the top to two points with the Egyptian League leaders, Zamalek, who played a game less and will face Arab Contractors on Thursday, March 14.
