CAIRO – 6 February 2019: Liverpool Egyptian winger, Mohamed Salah, has been a victim of racism during Liverpool’s 1-1 draw against West Ham United in London at the Premier League.

A video, posted on a West Ham fan's Twitter account insulting the religious background of the Egyptian player as he took a corner, went viral and West Ham club decided to take an action to identify the individual involved.

“At West Ham United, we have a zero tolerance policy to any form of violent or abusive behavior,” West Ham United spokesman said on Wednesday.

Salah won Premier League Golden Boot last season and he is the main contender to win it again this season as he is leading the race for Golden Boot award with 16 goals.

“We are aware of a video in which it appears racial abuse is being directed at a player at a West Ham vs Liverpool game. No arrests have been made and enquiries continue,” London Police stated.

Liverpool is leading the Premier League table with 62 points, three points ahead of the second placed, Manchester City.
