DETROIT: 31 January 2019: Four Egyptian players were qualified for the quarter-finals of the Motor City Open Squash, held in Detroit, the United States, from January 29 to February 2.

World No.1 Marwan El Shorbagy booked a place in the tournament's quarter-finals after he beat his compatriot Mazen Hisham 3-1 in a 46-minute match, ending 11/4, 7/11, 13/11 and 11/7.

Omar Mosaad defeated Chris Hanson of the United States by an 11/4, 7/11, 13/11, 8/11 and 11/9 scoreline in 72 minutes.

While Egypt’s World No.3 Mohamed Abou El-Ghar notched up victory over the United States No.1 Todd Harrity in a 56-minute game by a 3/11, 11/6, 11/13 and 12/10 scoreline.

Finally, Zahed Salem defeated Nicolas Mueller of Switzerland by a 3/11, 13/11, 11/9, 8/11 and 11/5 scoreline in a 56-minute match.

The Motor City Open is an annual international squash championship held in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. The tournament is hosted and organized by the Birmingham Athletic Club, a private club in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, and has been held each year since 1999, with the exception of 2008.
