CAIRO –17 January 2018: Hosni Abd Rabu, Ismaily's captain and former Egyptian international, announced his retirement from football after a remarkable march in which he did many achievements to become one of the most important players in the Egyptian football history.

Abd Rabu revealed that he took his decision at the end of the last season but Ismaily's conditions made him wait for months.

The 34-years-old started his career in 2002 with Ismaily's first team. He moved to France's Ligue 1 Strasbourg in 2005 before coming back to Ismaily in 2007.

He headed to UAE in 2008 to play for Al-Ahly for one season then came back to Ismaily.

In 2012, he played in Saudi Arabia Ittihad Jeddah and Al-Nasr clubs and this was the last time he left Ismaily where he played the last six years.

On the international side, Hosny Abd Rabu was one of the best players with the Egyptian national team. He achieved the 2003 Youth African Cup of Nations, the 2008 and 2010 African Cup of Nations. He was the Best Player of the 2008 tournament. He played with Egypt in the 2009 Confederation Cup.

Abd Rabu is one of the few players who played more than 100 games for Egypt. He scored 16 goals for the national team.
