CAIRO - 15 January 2019: Malian defender, Salif Coulibaly, played his last game with Al-Ahly on Saturday night against Congo’s Vita Club at the CAF Champions’ League group stage as the club announced that he will leave the club to join Iraqi club, Al-Shorta.

"It was a great time at Al-Ahly and I will leave with great memories that will stay with me forever." Coulibaly told Filgoal.com on Monday.

Coulibaly joined Al-Ahly last July and since then he established himself as a key player at Al-Ahly squad and participated with the team in 22 games.

The Malian defender revealed his best moment as Al-Ahly player, saying, "My best moment was the goal I scored against Township Rollers. It was my first goal and it saved the team's run at CAF Champions’ League Group stage."

The defender played a great role in Al-Ahly’s run at the CAF Champions League and scored two goals at the group stage against Township Rollers and Kampala City.

Al-Ahly fans blamed the team’s defense of Coulibaly and Saad Samir over their CAF Champions League title loss against Esperance.

Al-Ahly achieved a 3-1 victory at the first leg in Alexandria but they suffered a humiliating 3-0 defeat at the second leg in Tunisia to lose the final for the second consecutive year.

Coulibally commented on CAF Champions League Final loss, he said "It is a bad memory. We faced difficult circumstances in Rades and we played the game without many important players."

Coulibaly will play under the command of former Zamalek manager, Nebojsa Jovovic.
