CAIRO – 20 December 2018: Barcelona goalkeeper, Marc Andre Ter Stegen, revealed on Wednesday that he is enjoying his life in the city of Barcelona which impacts his performance on the pitch well.

“It was very important for me to go to a city that I could identify with, some players don't care much, but I do, and now I almost feel better here than in the city where I was born.” Ter Stegen said on Wednesday.

Ter Stegen, born in Mönchengladbach, Germany, joined Barcelona in 2014 from his ome town local team, Borussia Mönchengladbach.

The player suffered a hard time at his first two years with the club and he was sidelined except for European competitions’ games.

Ter Stegen added “It's necessary for a player to adapt and not only in a purely football sense, but also culturally, to integrate in the country and the region in order to feel at ease."

Since the departure of Claudio Bravo in 2016 summer, Ter Stegen gained more time and he established himself as the club starting goalkeeper in all competitions.

Ter Stegen renewed his contract with Barcelona in May 2017 and he is now committed to the club till 2022.
