CAIRO – 16 December 2018: Uruguayan coach, Martin Lasarte, signed a contract with Al-Ahly to be their new coach till 2020 summer.

Al-Ahly's president, Mahmoud el-Khatib, and football's director, Sayed Abdel Hafiz, had a meeting, In Al-Ahly's Head quarter, with the veteran coach to finalize all the financial and administrative terms.

Lasarte reached an agreement with Al-Ahly a monthly salary of $125,000 in addition to two assistants in his coaching staff.

The 57-years coach visited Al-Ahly's club in Al-Gezira and checked the players' room and Mokthar el-Titch stadium. He is set to succeed Mohamed Youssef who remained as Al-Ahly's coach for 32 days after the dismissal of Patrice Carteron, Al-Ahly's former coach.

Lasarte's career was full of achievements, especially in South America, as he led Nacional de Monteviedo to two consecutive national championships in 2005 and 2006. He managed Real Sociedead from 2009 to 2012. He achieved the Chilean Primera Division, Copa Chile and Supercopa de Chile with Universidad Chile.

Lasarte is set to attend Al-Ahly's match against El-Negoum on Sunday, December 17, 2018 at 07 p.m. CLT.
