CAIRO – 12 December 2018: Egypt's Handball national team manager, David Davis, announced on Wednesday the provisional squad for the 2019 World Cup in Germany and Denmark.

Smouha’s Abol Fotoh Ahmed commonly known as Hamasa was ruled out of the squad as he is suffering from a muscle injury and he will not be fit to participate with the team in the World Cup.

On the other hand, Zamalek veteran, Ahmed el-Ahmar, will be part of the squad alongside Eslam Hassan, Ibrahim el-Masry and Mohamed Mamdouh Hashem.

Davis’ preliminary squad consists of:

Goalkeepers: Karim Hindawy, Mohamed Essam, Mohamed Aly, and Mohamed Gamal.

Left Back:: Karim Ayman, Omar el-Wakil, and Ahmed Moamen.

Left Wing: Aly Zein, Aly Hesham, Yehia el-Darea, Omar Haggag, and Abdel Rahman Faisal.

Right Back: Mohamed Sanad, Akram Youssry, and Omar Samy.

Right Wing: Mamdouh Taha, Baher Bdrawy, Yehia Khaled, and Ahmed el-Ahmar.

Playmakers: Eslam Hassan, Mohamed Hesham, and Ahmed Khairy.

Pivot: Wesam Samy, Mohamed Gamal, Ahmed Adel, Khaled Walid, Ibrahim el-Masry and Mohamed Mamdouh Hashem.

The squad is set to be cut down to the 16 players who will travel to Copenhagen where the national team will play their group stage games.

The World Cup draw put Egypt in Group D alongside Sweden, Qatar, Hungary, Argentina and Angola.
