CAIRO – 5 December 2018: FIFA revealed on Tuesday the benefits football clubs will receive following their players’ participation at the World Cup with their national teams.
The European giants, Manchester City FC, Real Madrid CF, Tottenham Hotspur FC, FC Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain FC, Chelsea FC, Manchester United FC, Club Atlético de Madrid, Juventus FC, and AS Monaco will receive the biggest share of money as they contributed with the highest number of players in the national teams’ squads.
Al-Ahly will receive the biggest shares from the African continent; Al-Ahly’s shares will reach $1.7 million as seven players from Al-Ahly participated in the World Cup.
Saad Samir, Ahmed Fathy, Marwan Mohsen, Sherif Ekramy, Ayman Ashraf and Mohamed el-Shenawy were among Egypt's squad at the tournament, beside Al-Ahly defender, Ali Maaloul, who represented Tunisia at the competition.
“It is FIFA’s responsibility to redistribute the revenues of the competition among the entire football community and clubs that deserve to share in this success as they were key contributors,” FIFA President Gianni Infantino stated on Tuesday.
Beside Al Ahly, Zamalek, Smouha and Wadi Degla are the Egyptian teams to receive shares from their players’ participation in the competition.
