CAIRO - 3 December 2018: Egypt lost 80-60 to Cameroon on Sunday at the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup African qualifiers held in Cameroon, losing their chances to reach the World Cup.

Egyptian fans were hoping to see their team playing at the World Cup after their amazing performance at the qualifiers but losing to Cameroon put an end to all these hopes.

Egypt was the better side at the first quarter and they finished it leading the game 25-22, but they lost the other three quarters 23-14, 21-12 and 14-9, respectively to lose the game 80-60.

That loss sent Egypt to the fourth position at the group, while Cameroon reached the third place behind Tunisia and Angola.

The top two teams from each group will win direct qualification to the World Cup, while the third placed teams will play against each other at a play-off game to decide the fifth African country reaching the World Cup.

Tunisia and Angola have won a direct qualification to the World Cup, while Cameroon will wait for the other group results to know their situation.
