CAIRO – 20 November 2018: Egypt national team manager, Javier Aguirre, revealed on Monday that he wants the domestic league to stop for 15 days ahead of Egypt’s participation at the 2019 African Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

The manager also asked for the team to play three friendly games in that period, including a game against one of the continent's giants like Ghana, Nigeria or Ivory Coast.

Egypt defeated Tunisia 3-2 on Friday night at the African Cup of Nations qualifiers thanks to a late goal from Mohamed Salah. This victory allowed Egypt to share the top position of their group alongside Tunisia, with 12 points each.

Egypt still has one game to play at the qualifiers when they travel to Niger to face their national team in March.

Aguirre was appointed as national team manager in August after the Egyptian Football Association decided to put an end to the era of national team manager Hector Cuper following the poor performance of the team at the World Cup.

Aguirre has won the hearts of Egyptian football fans after the national team's amazing results at the qualifiers.
