CAIRO – 15 November 2018: Al-Ahly assistant coach, Mohamed Youssef, revealed on Wednesday that the club has no intention to release their Malian defender, Salif Coulibaly.

“He will stay with the club. He joined us at the beginning of the CAF Champions League group stage and he has a contract with the club till 2020,” Youssef said to MBC Egypt.

Coulibaly joined Al-Ahly last July and since then he established himself as a key player at Al-Ahly squad.
The defender played a great role in Al-Ahly’s run at the CAF Champions League and scored two goals at the group stage against Township Rollers and Kampala City.

Al-Ahly fans blamed the team’s defense of Coulibaly and Saad Samir over their CAF Champions League title loss against Esperance.

Al-Ahly achieved a 3-1 victory at the first leg in Alexandria but they suffered a humiliating 3-0 defeat at the second leg in Tunisia to lose the final for the second consecutive year.

Al-Ahly will face Emirati club, Al Wasl, on November 22 at the Arab Club Championship round of 16 second leg, and five days later they will face Saudi Arabian club, Al-Ittihad, at the Saudi-Egyptian Super Cup.
