CAIRO – 14 November 2018: Ahead of Egypt's clash against Tunisia at the 2019 African Cup of Nations’ qualifiers, Tunisian striker, Taha Yassine Khenissi, revealed that he rejected offers from Al-Ahly and Zamalek last summer.

“I had offers last summer from many Arab clubs, including Al-Ahly and Zamalek, but I decided to stay with Esperance,” Khenissi told Emarat Al-Youm on Wednesday.

Khenissi led his team to achieve the CAF Champions League title for the third time in their history after achieving a dramatic comeback over Al-Ahly.

Al-Ahly achieved a 3-1 victory at the first leg in Alexandria but they suffered a humiliating 3-0 defeat at the second leg in Tunisia to lose the final for the second consecutive year.

The Tunisian team will participate at the FIFA Club World Cup in UAE between Dec. 12 and Dec. 22.

“It is a great opportunity for me and my team to participate at this international event. It is a great chance for me to get an offer from a European club and achieve my dream to play there,” Khenissi added.

Khenissi is expected to start in the qualifiers match on Friday, where Egypt will host Tunisia. Both teams secured their qualification to the competition in the last round.
