CAIRO – 13 November 2018: LaLiga president Javier Tebas believes that Barcelona Argentinean star Lionel Messi has done a lot to the Spanish League and he deserves to name LaLiga as best player to precede him.

“I'd love to have a LaLiga award in his name. No one has brought more to LaLiga than him and if he finishes his career in Spain, or most of it, I don't believe anyone has contributed more to the competition,” Tebas told Marca.

Messi left his home in Argentina to join Barcelona’s academy, La Masia, when he was 13 and he was rapidly promoted through the club rankings till he joined the first team at 16.

Messi has achieved nine LaLiga titles since he joined the first team and was named the best player seven times. He is LaLiga’s all-time top goal scorer, having scored 392 goals.

Tebas commented on rumors linked Brazilian star, Neymar Jr da Silva, with a return to LaLiga, Tebas said, “I would like to see Neymar in Spain again, I don't care which team.”

The Brazilian left Barcelona in 2017 to join Paris Saint Germain, but many rumors linked him with a move back to Spain but to join Barcelona’s arch rivals, Real Madrid.
