Cairo – 27 October 2018: Al-Ahly handball team defeated GS Pétroliers 27-20 on Friday, Oct. 26 at the 40th African Handball Champions League’s semi final.

Al-Ahly dominated the game from the beginning to the end, finishing the first half with a 14-8 lead before widening the gap in the second half, but the Algerian team narrowed the gap at the end, ending the game 27-20.

The Red devils setup a meeting against Zamalek on Sunday in the African final after beating JS Kinshasa.

The Egyptian clubs reaped the last three titles as Zamalek lifted the trophy in 2015 and 2017 while Al-Ahly brought joy to their fans in 2016.

Al-Ahly faced Zamalek at the African Handball Champions League’s final once in 2012 which ended by a victory for the Reds 21-17.

Egyptian clubs featured in the African finals in the last seven editions.
