CAIRO – 9 July 2018: Former Manchester United midfeilder, Paul Scholes, believes that Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola has influenced the English football since he was appointed Man City manager in 2016.

“Guardiola has definitely been an influence for the national team, you just have to see the way the three centre-backs play and the way our goalkeeper plays.” Scholes said.

England reached the World Cup semi-finals for the third time in their history and the first time since 1990 and they are living the dream of achieving the title for the first time since 1966.

Scholes added “Gareth Southgate (England manager) went to see Pep and wanted to know how that kind of football is produced,"

Four of Guardiola’s City squad have been called for England at the World and they are playing a great role at England run at the competition.

Scholes continued “As an England fan and a former England player, we want to see the best football possible.”

Guardiola has been known for coaching teams at the Leagues of the nations that win the next World Cup. He started managing Barcelona in 2009 and the next year Spain won the World Cup and the same happened when he managed Bayern Munich in 2013 and the Germans won the World Cup in 2014.
