CAIRO - 28 June 2018: Liverpool introduced their new signing, Naby Keita, to media on Wednesday; they declared that he will wear Number 8 that belongs to the club’s historic leader, Steven Gerrard, who left the club in 2015.

“Firstly, I am somebody that plays in a defensive role and we need to start with that, but then I need to bring the ball forward and help the attack,” Keita told Liverpool official website.

Liverpool reached an agreement with RB Leipzig to sign the Guinean player in 2017 but both clubs decided that he will join the English club in 2018.

Liverpool had a stunning season last year and they reached the UEFA Champions League final but lost 3-1 to Real Madid.

Keita hopes that he can help the team to improve next season, saying “When you see how they performed last season, it makes me want to do the same and to be a part of this team. I would like to be able to achieve a similar kind of season with them next season, but even better.”

Beside Keita, Liverpool strengthened their squad by signing Brazil’s Fabinho from Monaco and they hope to achieve their first Premier League title since 1990.
