CAIRO – 23 June 2018: Nigeria’s Ahmed Musa was the protagonist of Friday’s 2018 World Cup evening as he became the third in the African’s top scorers’ list in the World Cup.

Nigeria beat Iceland 2-0 in the second round of Group D. This victory put Nigeria one step away from qualifying to the 16th round as it needs only one point from its game against Argentine next Wednesday.

Musa, who scored two goals against Iceland, raised his goals’ record to four in the World Cup. He is now behind Ghana’s leader, Asamoah Gyan and Cameroon’s veteran striker, Roger Milla.

Musa also became the first Nigerian player to score a double in two different editions of World Cup; he scored a brace against Argentine in 2014 World Cup.

Gyan is the top African goalscorer in the World Cup as he scored six goals in three editions; 2006, 2010, 2014.

Asamoah scored one goal in 2006 against Czech Republic; three goals in 2010 against Serbia, Australia and USA; two goals in 2014 against Germany and Portugal.

Cameroon’s Roger Milla is the second with five goals as he scored in 1982, 1990 and 1994 editions.

Can Musa top the African top scorers’ list in 2018 World Cup?
