Egypt’s amazing performance in the group stage’s second match wasn’t enough; the Pharaohs lost 0-1 against Uruguay through a late José Giménez header in their first match.

Egypt impressed the majority of the game against Uruguay as the goalkeeper Mohamed El-Shenawy was crowned with the Man of the Match title.

Egypt stands in the third position in Group A with zero points. Uruguay now places second in Group A with three points behind the leader and the host nation, Russia, with three points but with five goals in their bank. Saudi Arabia is in the fourth position.
