“It was a difficult match against a tough opponent; we are desperate to receive a goal like that,” Cuper stated in the press conference after the match.

In the 89th minute, Sanchez delivered a free-kick from the right and Gimenez rose highest in the area to head into the right-hand corner of the net.

“We knew their strengths [free kicks]; they have giant defenders and strikers. Despite all, I’m happy with the players’ performance,” Cuper stressed.

Egy

“We preferred not to risk participating Salah. He will participate in the next two matches,” Cuper assured.

El-Shenawy has really shone today and he's made three decisive saves. Two saves from Suarez and a powerful volley from Cavani earned him Man of the Match award after the game.

The Pharaohs have to win in the next games, against Russia and Saudi Arabia, to secure a seat in the 16th round.
