CAIRO – 15 June 2018: Hours before Egypt’s first match in the World Cup since 1990, Mohamed Salah celebrates his 26th birthday in Russia.

Egyptian players celebrated by Mo Salah’s birthday after Eid el-Fitr prayer in the hotel where they settled in Ekaterinburg.

Salah will not be a starter in Egypt’s match against Uruguay as Hector Cuper preferred to keep the Egyptian King on the bench.

Egyptian fans at Ekaterinburg Arena decided to chant "Happy birthday" song at the 26th minute of the match.

Having scored five out of Egypt’s seven goals in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers, Salah has already been crowned the tournament’s national hero.

The Egyptian star and Liverpool forward has not only been a national but a global football icon this season; he has won 37 individual awards to date, took Liverpool team to their first Champions League finals since 2007, and led Egypt to a great comeback to the World Cup after a long wait.
