CAIRO – 7 June 2018: Belgium’s star, Eden Hazard, revealed that he will support Egypt in the 2018 World Cup because of his friendship with the Egyptian King, Mohamed Salah.

Egypt lost to Belgium 3-0 in their last friendly game before heading to Russia to participate at the 2018 World Cup. Hazard scored the second goal for Belgium before the half time by a shot from inside the box after a great pass from Yannick Carrasco.

"Egypt has good players. We managed to take control of the match and scored an early goal which made things easier for us," Chelsea's Hazard told ON Sport.

"We are glad about defeating Egypt 3-0. I wish Salah the best and hope he returns. I will support Egypt in the World Cup for him,” Hazard added.

Hazard and Salah were teammates when Salah played for almost one year at Chelsea. They last met at Anfield stadium when both teams tied 1-1 in the Premier League. The Belgian supported Salah when everyone else doubted him.

"Egypt [team] is so different without Salah but they still performed well with compact lines. Their playing style is close to that of Tunisia," Hazard added.

When asked about Salah, he said "I spoke with Salah after the Champions League final and sent him a message. As I said, he is my friend and I want to see him in the World Cup."

Belgium was placed at Group G alongside England, Tunisia and Panama. The Red Devils are set to play against Costa Rica in their last friendly game before starting the World Cup journey.
