TEHRAN - 1 June 2018: Football Federation issued a statement on cancelling two preparatory competitions against Greece and Kosovo, Islamic Republic News Agency reported.

The statement came following unilateral cancellation of preparatory match between the Iranian and Greek teams.

Calling off the match slated for Day of FIFA inflicted a serious damage on the plans of Iran’s national football team in the final stage of warm up camping for 2018 World Cup.

Iran’s Football Federation expresses deep regret over Greek Football Federation’s lack of respect, morality and responsibility in recent weeks.

Unlike the claims, Iran’s football team has always been ready for playing in Greece, as the documents exchanged between the two federations signify the issue, the statement said.

Iran’s Football Federation will take actions to find alternative for friendly games on June 2.

Following a primary agreement with Kosovo federation, Iran’s federation had accepted all the demands by the entity but the last moment demand raised by Kosovo Football Federation made the match impossible, the statement said.
