CAIRO – 24May 2018: Egypt’s goalkeeper and captain, Essam el-Hadary, announced that all his teammates are ready for the 2018 World Cup, set totake place in Russia starting June 14. He declared that he will setup a meeting to discuss Ramadan’s fasting issue with the players.

“Everyone in the national team wants to play in the World Cup; it is a great competition. All the 29 players support each other; there is no difference between a main player and a sub,” Hadary said.

Egypt qualified to the World Cup in Russia, ending 28 years of absence, as the national team last played in the World Cup in 1990 in Italy.

“We will inform the coaching staff of our decision on Ramadan’s fasting issue after we have a meeting together,” Hadary added.

Egypt will face Kuwait in a friendly match on May 26 at Gaber Al-Ahmed stadium, ahead of the upcoming World Cup in Russia.

“We want to reach the top level by playing the friendly matches,” Hadary concluded.

Egypt plays in Group A alongside Saudi Arabia, Uruguay and the host nation, Russia.
