CAIRO – 11 May 2018: Al-Ain’s Egyptian winger, Hussein El-Shahat, was named Best Player in Arabian Gulf League this season.

“Under the generous patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, Honorary President of the UAE Football Association, and in the presence of His Excellency Major General Mohammed Khalfan Al Rumaithi, Commander-In-Chief of the Abu Dhabi Police and Chairman of the General Sports Authority, His Excellency Marwan bin Ghalita, President of the UAE FA and His Excellency Abdulla Nasir Al Junaibi, Chairman of the Pro League Committee, the PLC organized the 2017-18 Arabian Gulf League Awards and the 2018-19 season draw at Abu Dhabi's Emirates Palace Auditorium on Thursday night,” the Arabian Gulf League stated through its official website.

Shahat featured in the Arabian Gulf League’s Dream Team of the Year, which included the best 11 players in the league.

Shahat, who joined Al-Ain FC in the mid-season transfer market in January, was named the best playmaker of the Emirati league by Emarat Al Youm newspaper, as it said that Shahat succeeded in creating eight goals in the only 10 matches he played for Al-Ain. The Egyptian overcame his teammates Caio, who created seven goals after participating in 18 matches, and Marcus Berg, who also made seven goals in 20 games.

Shahat leads the top assists’ list after only 10 games, which reflects the great abilities the player possesses – the abilities that made Al-Ain FC renew his loan contract for three years, after he joined the team on a one-year loan deal coming from Masr el-Makasa.
