CAIRO – 6 May 2018: Zamalek handball team defeated Al-Ahly 18-17 in the encounter held on Saturday at the Suez Canal hall in Ismailia.

Zamalek raised their points to 29 equalizing Al-Ahly’s points on the top of the table. Both teams are set to play a decisive match on Monday.

The White Team succeeded to beat Al-Ahly for the second time this season after defeating the Reds 21-20 in the African Super Cup match last April in Cairo.

Zamalek will use the two consecutive victories over Al-Ahly to claim the Egyptian title on Monday at the Suez Canal hall.

On the other hand, Zamalek submitted an official protest after they have been defeated 35-34 by Heliopolis handball team on Friday.

Zamalek protests the participation of Heliopolis’ player, Mohsen Ramadan, in the match, as he is in the Under-21 team but he is not tall enough.

Egyptian Handball Federation regulates that any player U-21 may participate with the first team if his listed height exceeds 190 cm.

If the EHF accepted the protest, Zamalek will be the winner in Heliopolis game and will be crowned as the Egyptian League champions.
