CAIRO – 6 May 2018: Egyptian national team’s coach, Hector Cuper, assured that the friendly match against Kuwait will be very important for the coaching staff.

Egypt will face Kuwait in a friendly match on May 26 at Gaber Al-Ahmed stadium, ahead of the upcoming World Cup in Russia.

“We are trying to reach the best form before the World Cup; this game will be very important for us,” Cuper said in a video presented by Presentation agency.

Egypt faced Portugal and Greece in March but it lost the two games 1-2 and 0-1, respectively. The Pharaohs put in a very good performance in Portugal’s match but they failed to please the Egyptian fans in Greece’s match.

“The Egyptian fans will attend the next match against Kuwait; they are waiting for us and we want to please them,” Cuper added.

Egypt will face Belgium and Colombia in June, days before their participation in the World Cup in Russia.

“We don’t depend on the results to assess our performance. We play friendly matches to watch the players and how they deploy our tactics,” Cuper concluded.

Egypt qualified to the World Cup in Russia, ending 28 years of absence, as the national team last played in the World Cup in 1990 in Italy.

Egypt plays in Group A alongside Saudi Arabia, Uruguay and the host nation, Russia.
