CAIRO – 2 May 2018: Liverpool’s Dutch midfielder, Georginio Wijnaldum, revealed on Tuesday what his teammate Mohamed Salah told the team about their upcoming trip to Rome, where they face AS Roma in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League semi-finals on Wednesday.

“Salah said it was going to be difficult; that’s all he said, and that we should have confidence in our style of playing,” Wijnaldum told press on Tuesday.

Salah, 25, wore Roma’s jersey for two years before his decision to leave the club and join Liverpool. Salah had an amazing two seasons with Roma, scoring 32 goals and was named the best player on the team in both seasons.

“He said it will be difficult as they have really good supporters, and after Barcelona, everyone believes they can get a result here and will give 100 percent,” Wijnaldum added.

Liverpool defeated the Italian side 5-2 in the first leg in Liverpool, however the Dutch midfielder believes that the tie is not over yet.

“We don’t have one foot in the final; you can only go with two feet in the final. Strange things happened before in the Champions League. Roma already showed they can turn things around against Barcelona,” he said.

Roma players hope to repeat their achievement in the quarter-finals, when they returned from a 4-1 loss against Barcelona in the first leg to defeat the Catalans 3-0 in Italy. A 4-4 tie saw Roma victorious on away goals.
