CAIRO – 30 April 2018: Slovenian referee Damir Skomina is set to take charge of the second leg of the UEFA Champions League semi-finals between Roma and Liverpool in Italy on Wednesday.

Jure Praprotnik and Robert Vukan will be the Slovenian’s assistants for the game.

The Slovenian referee was elevated to the international level in 2003 and since then has established himself as one of the best referees in the world.

Skomina refereed the 2012 UEFA Super Cup final, the 2017 Europa League final and second leg of the 2016 Champions League semi-finals between Real Madrid and Manchester City.

He also refereed at UEFA EURO 2012 and UEFA EURO 2016.

Skomina and his assistants will referee some games during the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

The first leg in Liverpool ended with a massive 5-2 victory for the home team after a wonderful show from their Egyptian winger, Mohamed Salah.

Salah scored the first two goals and then provided two assists for Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino, who added the third and the fourth goals, respectively.

Roma players hope to repeat their achievement in the quarter-finals when they returned from a 4-1 loss against Barcelona in the first leg to defeat the Catalans 3-0 in Italy.
