CAIRO – 26 April 2018: Zamalek won 2-1 over Al-Ahly in the Premier League for the Cairo Derby played at Cairo Stadium on Thursday night.

Al-Ahly manager Hossam el-Badry’s starting line-up for the game consisted of Mohamed El-Shennawy, Saad Samir, Ahmed Fathy, Ayman Ashraf, Sabry Rahil, Amr El-Solya, Hossam Ashour, Karim Nedvěd, Walid Soliman, Junior Ajayi and Marwan Mohsen.

Al-Ahly missed two key players, WalidAzaro and Ali Maaloul, who failed to recover from their injuries before the game.

Meanwhile, Zamalek caretaker manager Khaled Galal’s starting line-up for the game consisted of Mahmoud Gennesh, Maarouf Youssef, Hamdi Nagguez, Mahmoud Alaa, Mahmoud Hamdy, Tarek Hamed, Mahmoud Abdelaziz, Ahmed Fattouh, Ayman Hefny, Youssef Ibrahim and Kabongo Kasongo.

Kasongo opened the score after five minutes and Shennawy failed to save it, making the score 1-0.

Al-Ahly fans expected a reaction from their players, but Ayman Hefny surprised them by scoring the second goal after an amazing cross from Maarouf Youssef.

Al-Ahly's reaction came in the second half when they won a penalty and Walid Soliman converted it to make the score 2-1.

Al-Ahly players failed to score another goal in the remaining minutes despite their several attempts, ending the game 2-1.

Zamalek put an end to Al-Ahly’s unbeaten run in the league and reconciled their fans after a disastrous season.
